Well Nathan had his White Coat Ceremony a few weeks ago, I've been wanting to post but didn't know how to put a video on. Mom and Dad flew out to surprise Nathan. I secretly picked them up at the airport and when we got home I found Nathan outside working in our backyard. (More posts on that later) I walked out and said "Hey sweetie I have a surprise for you!" He replied "ya? I have a surprise for you and you're not going to like it!" So I asked him if he wanted to come inside and see his surprise first, then Mom walked outside followed by Dad. Nathan nearly jumped backwards "wow!! This is a surprise!" His surprise was not as exciting as it was scary...he found some HUGE blackwidows in our backyard right by our house!! Nathan was totally stoked to have such an awesome surprise and kept telling me how cool it was that they were here to support him! Thanks Mom and Dad for coming!
Now this white coat ceremony deal...the school presented each of the students graduating in 2012 with their first white coat as "student" doctors. The coat is shorter in length than the one he will wear when he graduates in 4 years officially as "Dr. Richards" He will wear the coat mostly in another 2 years when he starts rotations where he will be out working and learning in hospitals and other offices. Then in 4 years they will get their longer official Dr. Coat or whatever they call it! Other than recieving their coats, they had a few speakers talk about the importance of their careers and to take it seriously and wear their coats with pride and professionalism. Anyways it was all pretty interesting. So early invite in 3 1/2 more years when Nathan graduates medical school...you are ALL invited to the White Coat Ceremony so mark your future calenders. We would love to have everyone here for him. ;) I'm so proud of Nathan and what he is doing, he is loving school thus far and can't wait to help people. I know he will be an amazing doctor he truly does care for others and wants to help and well crazy at it sounds to me he really does love all the hard work and learning too!
Well for my birthday which was on a Sunday Nathan brought me some beautiful flowers and made me dinner! Roast and mashed potatoes and gravy mmmmmmmmm....and he did it all by himself (with a little help on the gravy) and it really was delicious! And all I asked for was my cake from baskin robbins, chocolate cake, mint chocolate chip ice cream with the little ice cream cones on top and I got it!!! Good job sweetie!
Mom sent a cookie boquet which I forgot to take a picture of but they were so cute and delicious! The girls here all had a girls night out a week before for my birthday and another friend whose is the day after mine. We went out to eat and then watched a movie at home, it was way fine if you don't like to eat anything when you go out to celebrate, I had food poisoning a day before and still couldn't eat much. But there were lots of laughs and good fun. Thanks for all the phone calls! Since it was on a Sunday this year Nathan took me out to eat and to a fun shopping place called Lake Las Vegas about 10 minutes away. Kind of reminded us of park city. IT was a fun place, probably more happening on the weekends then it was on a Monday night. They have bands and Movies playing on big screens on the lake we will have to check it out one weekend when all movies and music are going on. And for my present from Nathan............TIVO!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!! Did I mention it comes with a lifetime subscription! I'm way excited! Mandy now you can't make fun of us for not being able to "pause" movies that are on TV hahaha Well it was a great day, I sure love me birthday and that's thanks to all those who make me feel so special and loved!
