We the Backyardigans

Well we have been finishing up our backyard. Here is how the process went. When we bought the house the builders "landscaped" to sell the house. Well landscaping a backyard from a builders standpoint meant making an odd shaped piece of grass that is about half the size of the yard and filling the rest with tiny rocks....wow! So we doubled our usable yard area by expanding the grass. We seeded and waited for the grass to grow.

Almost a year later after the horrible Las Vegas heat and when Nathan had enough time off from school. So during our Spring Break we worked hard! We planted 3 trees, 2 plants, and 3 flowering vines. We also made an attempt to hid our 2 AC units sitting right in our backyard, so that's what the bamboo little wall is, we will see how that goes. Oh and did I forget to mention what happened to all those little rocks that used to be in the yard....well Nathan had to move them ALL OF THEM, and spread them around the house....eek. Thanks sweetie! Our grass is sorta growing in and our plants our in, patio is adorable. Thanks Mom and Dad Richards for the flip flop string lights. Yeah our yard is done....still waiting on our grass to grow in fully but we are finished and very happy!

Sleepless in Seattle

Nathan and I were lucky enough to take a trip up to Washington to visit my brothers and their sweet families. We started out at Jason and Jamies. Jason introduced Nathan to laser tag in the woods at night, we stayed up late talking, watching movies, playing Mario Kart, (well I attempted it didn't go very well, those dumb carts are hard to drive!), ran around with the kids and tried to wear them out for bed but I think they wore us out instead! We learned not to underestimate an 8 year old when it comes to video games (wow Noah really "humiliated" us hahaha) and that Adam loves chocolate so much he sleeps with it, and Katie, well she is of course the "princess" all the time!
We took a trip to introduce Nathan to Pike's and he loved it! Beautiful flowers (which he didn't buy me, but assured me I would have a new boquet every week if we lived there.....hmmm tempting....), little donuts of course are always a hit, watching the guys throw the fish and enjoying the fresh food and fun artistry for sale.

We were then passed on to Mike and Melissa's after a fun hike up "twin falls" (I think that's what it's called) it was beautiful even in the muddy rain but what better way to have a true Washington experience!?! On the way back to the car Beckham was allowed out of his backpack to hike on his own. Adam said "don't work I'll help him!" He held Becks hand and had that little guy loving life! However Adam quickly got "tired" and poor Becks started to cry and would only hold Adam's hand....so Adam had no other choice but to help him ALL the way down which kept Beckham laughing and happy as can be to have a good friend looking out for him!
Easter came and we watched Beckhams first egg hunt! Melissa taught us a new technique to color eggs which was totally awesome, it shall be a continued tradition! Of course you can't have Easter morning without curried eggs, so Mike made them for us! Delicious! We got the "Beckham show" wow that kid is a busy body! Although we took babysitting duty while he was supposed to be taking a nap and M&M ran to the store, but he woke up, fortunately I was able to get about 45 minutes of pure cuddle time with the little guy, apparantly a rare occurance and I loved it! He was so tired. Nathan entertained Becks with his "monkey" impression and Beckham became very demanding for more "do it!!" He yelled straight at Nathan when he wasn't getting more "monkey" HAHAHA awesome!

Although over all our trip felt too short and we weren't ready to leave we created tons of memories and loved having them all to ourselves! Thanks guys for having us, we miss you already! We will have to make it back again! Love you all so much! We would love to have you at our place anytime!

(Left pic how he went to school, Right pic what he did after school to show friends again tonight)

Home Sweet Home

Well my little sister is not so little anymore. She is 21 and I am so proud of her! She is making great choices in her life and although it takes work she is reaching for the stars and I know she will make it! I went home to be there for her birthday and was able to see David and Nathan's games, catch Jonathan in a few pictures and even watch Mandy eat escargo. I let a few cop jokes slip out to Doug at dinner he promised he wouldn't hurt me and Tiff says he doesn't care and it was funny but I may pay for that one day. Love you Doug! :) Mom and dad I love you so much thanks for always being willing to bring me home and deal with me so often! Little Nathan, Mandy and I convinced Mom to play the guitar with us on guitar hero and she was pretty good! She said she liked it and now that Nathan showed her how to turn it on upstairs she might go up and play it! Hehe Watch out Dad, you're next!! Dad you even stayed awake for all of Twilight haha I miss you all!

I know it's March but....

Well since Halloween we have done a lot! We went home to CA for the holidays and had a blast! We swam about every day in the heated pool played guitar hero all night and trying out the flowrider (that thing on cruise ships, it's harder than it looks, so i'm told) and of course our favorite tradition of popping new years balloons for fortunes and secret gifts. Oh yeah and we can't forget our own version of pictionary......with the blue mosque, chandler bing and topiary. HAHA good memories! Thanks to Jamie for taking our pictures as well we love them!

Nathan is back in school and so am I! I'm taking a photography class and will continue with that and some psychology for fun. Nathan is finally done with anatomy and on to things like neuro. After the holidays we came home and had Nathan's birthday! He requested a cake he had as a kid, he was a big Notre Dame fan growing up hence the cake. We also celebrated our 4 year anniversary! Wow! I can't believe it! We went to St. George to stay in a cute bed and breakfast......haha. When we researched looking for a place to eat Nathan found this one online called the Painted Pony and the first thing that came up was a picture of the owners. The guys last name was Richards and the girls was PACE!! Can you believe it??? Fate I tell you, so we ate there and it was delicious! Long story short, we both FROZE all night in the little house! We were able to laugh about it by about 3am when I said lets just go home but of course we didn't. We learned that we both enjoy hotels with a phone to pick up for room service of any kind and individual thermostats in each room that we can decide the temp of the room. hahahaha And most recently Nathan sprained his ankle playing basketball, nope not church ball, school pick-up. These last few pics are the ones Jamie did.
