Fit for a King

Our precious baby is on his way, not too far now.  Here is our sweet little nursery.  We have worked so long and hard for the day to get ready for our own baby to arrive and it's finally time to make sure we are ready for him.  We can hardly wait to rock him in the chair, put him to sleep in his bed, and play all day long.

Nathan's first bed time story

Nathan said I should sing the baby a lullaby song to which I replied why don't YOU sing US a lullaby.  After agreeing that Nathan's singing  might not aid in our attempts to sleep, I suggested he tell us a bedtime story.  I thought I would share his first bed time story.....

GRIZZ and the Berry

Once upon a time there was a grizzly bear.  He lived in Alaska. (meg: do Grizzly bears live in Alaska?....nate of course...)  You see this bear was different from all the other grizzly bears, he was a kind, gentle, loving bear.  In fact he didn't even like to be called a grizzly bear because it made him sound like a mean ferocious beast.  So he went by "Grizz" and everyone called him Grizz.  You see, Grizz was a vegetarian and he only ate berries.  One day he found a toadstool next to the berries.  He thought "hmm...what a strange looking berry.  It must be a berry because it's sitting right here with all the to other berries."  So Grizz pulled out his napkin and tied it around his neck.  Then he pulled out his fork and knife and began to ever so carefully slice the strange berry.  (meg: where'd he get the fork and knife? nate: he carries them around with him) He took a few bites and thought "it doesn't look like a berry, it doesn't smell like a berry and it doesn't taste like a berry, but it's not so bad."  Grizz continued to eat the toadstool.  As he finished his new-found delicacy he wanted to know what kind of new berry this was so he picked up the dictionary.  (meg: where'd he get the dictionary?  nate: it was just laying there on the ground, it's not winter or anything so it wasn't hiding in the snow.  meg: right ok...) Grizz found a picture of the toadstool/berry and saw that it was from the Latin root "amanita phalloides" aka the "death cap."  As Grizz continued to read about phalloides (meg: laughing so hard it hurts!!!) did you just make that up?? nate: no it really is called phalloides. meg: no way!! you made that up there is no way!! (still continuously laughing so hard I could hardly speak now) tell the truth! nate: (very matter of fact and serious) truth, that's what it's called so anyways....) Grizz continued to learn about the death cap but by now it was too late, Grizz just fell over.  He went into a coma and then died.  (The End)

Meg:  no way you did NOT just kill Griz!!! That was the worst bed time story ever!  You are never allowed to tell our kids stories (still laughing, but seriously!!)
Nate: no it's a good story, the moral of the story is to teach our kids not to eat mushrooms/toadstools! And besides Griz will be back! (meg: what?! no he can't you just killed him!)  Oh yes!  People always come back to life in stories. It will be as in the show "LOST.  We can work Griz back into the plot with lots of flashbacks, flashforwards and such.  Or we can have him reincarnated back into nature, I see him coming back as a tulip.

What can I say, gotta love him! hahaha

Here's to another wonderful year together!

Wow has it really been five years already?  Yup!  February 17th was our five year anniverary.  Nathan in the middle of finals week and studying like crazy for tests.  Fun way to celebrat huh?  We were able to sneak some time in together.  Nathan came home and we shared gifts, the best of which Nathan was able to get his sneaky little hands on was 2 VIP tickets to the Ellen DeGeneres show!!! WOOO HOOOO!!  It's funny to see how much we have learned about each other as my other unplanned gift was a pantry can organizer...sad that I was almost as excited about this as the Ellen tickets, haha.  Boy does he love me or what!!  We went to BJ's for dinner and had a blast, he didn't even study that night (brave).  Although it paid off, he got his grades back and this was his best block ever!  Nathan I love you so much and am so thankful for having you in my life.  You have been my rock and gotten me through so many things and no one knows me better.  As my parents have said, "you really have learned how to handle me" haha.  I am so excited for another year of fun together and sharing our lives together.  I love you forever!

Pace House....well one of them anyhow

I was lucky enough to spend a few days up in Washington at my brother Mike's house.  I went to help out Melissa with her two precious little boys!  I got to meet Finn, their 1 month old new addition.  How precious and sweet he is!  Beckham, the new big brother was a blast to play with!  We played trains, and followed him in his tractor, learned some new dinosaurs, and had so much fun together.  He is one smart, quick kid!  I got to watch both Beckham and Finn one night all by myself so that Mike and Melissa could go out for a nice Valentine's dinner.  Brave huh?  Nah, those two are so sweet and good, it was pretty easy.  I even got Beckham and Finn both to sleep before their mom and dad came home.  Honestly, it made me a lot more confident for my upcoming arrival.  I wanted to hold Finn all the time, and realized I am pretty comfortable with little ones....good thing huh?  Melissa took me to a fun little boutique deal where people sell all their creations.  It was so much fun and we ended up finding some cool stuff!  Although I didn't get to spend much time with Mike as he is busy working at his "buildings" it was fun to hang out just me and Melissa (ok and the kids...haha) Thanks for letting me come, not sure if I was much help, but I loved getting to spend time with you guys and play with your sweet boys, I miss you all so much already!

Daddy Daughter Time

Dad drove to Las Vegas for some fun daddy daughter time.  He got here last wednesday night while I was out with the girls.  Somehow he magically stayed awake until I got home (I even left early).  We got him all settled in and had a lot of fun just hanging out the two of us (and Nathan when he was available).  On Thursday we took a trip out to the dam.  They are building an amazing new bridge out there and dad was interested to see it.  It is quite the bridge.  Although I'm a little scared to actually have to drive across it one day, it is sooo high!! We walked around a bit and then headed out to Town Square for lunch and a visit to the apple store.  It's a fun outdoor shopping place, and we ate at mom's favorite restaurant here, the Brio.  That night we stayed in and watched a movie that all three of us enjoyed.  Friday dad and I wondered the shops of the Paris and the Venetian and had lunch at a cute little buffet in the Paris.  After all that walking we were tired so we headed home, dad took a nap and I went to the doctors to check on Colton.  He is still very stubborn, he doesn't move an inch during the sonogram and litterally seconds after they finish he decides to do flips.  Silly boy!  At 26 weeks he is weighing in around 2.1 lbs.  We took dad to BJ"s for dinner where we stuffed ourselves, I told dad and Nathan they were going to have to roll me to the car haha.  We just hung out and relaxed the rest of the night as dad had to get up early to head back home.  It was so fun to just hang out and have dad all to myself for a few days.  He was even nice enough to let me wake up in the mornings whenever I woke up, he just read, and ate my candy bars....hehe.  Thanks so much for coming daddy it was so fun to see you come back soon!

Mindy's Big 3-0!!

We had an awesome girls night out for our dear friend Mindy! We showed up at her house, 15 girls and got her all decked out in a crown, tutu, light-up glasses and a wand. She was then ready for a night out on the town! We headed to the "sign" (Amy...haha) the famous "welcome to fabulous Las Vegas" sign and took some crazy pictures. Then we headed over to Serendipity3 for a dinner! During our 45 minute wait (they don't take reservations....what restaurant on the strip doesn't take reservations? crazy!) We opened Mind'ys presents, played a fun "get to know you" sort of game. You draw a question out of a bag and answer it...way funny. Then we cheered Mindy while she showed us all how to CLOGG!! Fantastic night girls! Happy birthday Mindy!!
Oh and don't worry I have included to video of Mindy's hott clogging!! (sorry Min! hehe love ya!)
Oh and for some reason I can't figure out how to flip it so the video is sideways. If anyone can fix it send it back to me, I'll keep working on it too.
